For the milling motor initially I looked at the Bosch GKF600, the European variant of the Bosch Colt that is used in a lot of US projects. But unlike the Colt the European variant can only run at a fixed speed.
At one of the European openbuilds webshops www.vslot-europe.com I found the Kress FM1050 router. Further investigation showed that this is a very nice router with a speed range of 5000 – 25000 rpm. It’s also sold on www.damencnc.com and they have a lot of accessories like a very solid mounting bracket and collets for various diameter mills.
An interesting feature of the Kress router is its patented cable connector which makes it easy to temporarily unmount it if necessary.
The router comes standard with a collet of 8mm. I purchased additional 6mm and 1/8 inch (3.175 mm) ones. For the last diameter there are a lot of cheap mills available on www.aliexpress.com.
